Modernise hundreds of Linux servers across multiple environments while controlling the inconsistency and risk of manual migration.

Approach

Automate configuration, prerequisites, commissioning, connectivity checks and migration steps; then apply lessons from each environment to the next.

A repeatable migration process that reduced manual effort and made large infrastructure changes more predictable.

Challenge

Turn an evolving architecture of more than a dozen Spring-based components into a consistent, supportable deployment model across multiple environments.

Approach

Define the deployment model, adapt reusable Ansible automation, manage configuration and readiness, and incorporate learning as the application matured.

Value

The application reached production with a repeatable deployment process, clear documentation and knowledge transferred beyond the original team. I became the subject matter expert for its configuration and deployment.

Challenge

An unexpected platform failure during a time-sensitive production change made continuing with the original implementation unsafe.

Decision

Resist increasingly risky fixes, reset the priority around service safety and work with the wider team to execute a controlled rollback.

Value

The environment was restored safely and predictably. Feedback recognised my ability to remain focused and collaborative under pressure.
